We are a world leading visual solutions provider with our main products including LED monitors, interactive commercial displays, touch displays and projectors (our “Products”). We are committed to combat slavery and human trafficking and not to engage in or support any use or practice of child labour or any forced or compulsory labour (the “Prohibited Act”).
ViewSonic has policies, procedures, guidelines and/or performances to ensure that there is no Prohibited Act within our group companies and that the suppliers of our Products are in compliance (our “Policies”). Our aforesaid compliance is further evidenced through our certified commitment to the Social Accountability Management System Standard: SA 8000:2014 (the “SA 8000”).
Our parent company is ViewSonic Corp., a Delaware, United States company based in Brea, California, USA. It has three regional subsidiary companies for regional operations listed below. All of them are committed to observe our Policies on the prohibition on the Prohibited Act.
Europe: ViewSonic Europe Limited, a UK company based in London, England, UK.
Asia Pacific and Africa: ViewSonic International Corp., a Taiwan company based in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
China: ViewSonic China Limited, a China company based in Shanghai, China.
We require that all suppliers with whom we work also conform to the spirit of SA 8000 requirements, including the ban on Prohibited Act. (For a copy of our SA-8000 certificate, please visit: https://www.viewsonic.com/tw/about/download/Signed_Cert_203753-2016-ASA-RGC-SAAS.PDF)
We have adopted a Code of Conduct with which we also comply. A set of standards on international labour laws, social responsibility and environmental issues, the Code of Conduct covers our ban on slavery and human trafficking and requires us not to engage in or support the use of child labour or forced or compulsory labour or any Prohibited Act.
The Code of Conduct also requires us to treat all personnel with dignity and respect. We shall not engage in or tolerate the use of corporate punishment, mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse of personnel. No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.
The Code of Conduct further requires us to respect the rights of personnel to a living wage and ensure that wages for a normal work week, not including overtime, shall always meet at least legal or industry minimum standards. Wages shall be sufficient to meet the basic needs of personnel and to provide some discretionary income.
We have established valuable business relationships with some of the world’s leading original design manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers. We select our key suppliers based on capabilities that include their commitment and compliance on banning the Prohibited Act.
We further regularly evaluate suppliers under our ViewSonic Supply Chain Management system to ensure compliance. We conduct a thorough supplier performance evaluation annually, seeking to identify risks, impacts and opportunities for improvement within our supply chain against the Prohibited Act.
All existing and potential suppliers are subject to stringent assessment, audit and selection processes. Our suppliers must adhere not only to our rigorous guidelines, but also to our standards of ethics, social responsibility, and environmental protection. Our Supply Base Management team conducts this evaluation at least once a year.
To ensure a level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff, with a focus on new hire orientation on our Policy on Prohibited Act.
We require all of our suppliers to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to those of the UK and the countries in which they operate as well as international business standards.
The statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2019.
