The Nexus International School (Singapore) offers cutting-edge digital learning for students ranging from pre-school age to senior high school levels. It runs almost 100 ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays to deliver various teaching materials based on the student levels.
The ViewBoards are installed in 79 classrooms across 12 floors. As such, the management of these displays would be a challenge to the administrators. The school wanted to find a better way to centrally manage them. The answer came in the form of a web-based dashboard: myViewBoard Manager.
myViewBoard Manager is an intuitive one-stop web dashboard for managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing displays. Nexus deployed myViewBoard Manager to help them and went from having the IT department troubleshoot individual ViewBoard displays one by one to allow them to maintain the displays remotely. This means IT staff can conduct maintenance and updates across their entire network of interactive displays, including remotely carrying out hardware setting configuration, software installation and updates, without having to be on-site. Therefore, the school is able to ensure that its fleet of ViewBoards is operating as efficiently as possible.
In fact, upwards of 90% of technical difficulties that Nexus IT staff encounter, usually caused by network issues and input source issues, can now be solved remotely. This means there is no need to send a technician in person to inspect the hardware or to troubleshoot relatively easy-to-solve issues, thus saving labor costs and time potentially disrupting classes.
In addition, myViewBoard Manager provides schools with the ability to schedule screen on and off times and a usage report. The scheduling feature helps teachers improve efficiency in the classroom and helps schools become more eco-friendly by reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions rates. The report provides insights into tool usage, system uptime, software versions, and power savings. These insights allow schools to better measure and optimize their resources.
